Peaceful Walk - Sunday 5th July 2009

Dear Members and Friends,

On 5th July 2008, more than 15,000 supporters, victims and families who had lost their loved ones marched under cold weather conditions along Botany Downs, crying for tougher sentencing against crime, whether petty or violent.  The turnout caught media attention in New Zealand and around the world, and has become one of it's histories to remember.

The Asian Anti-Crime (AAG) and the Coalition Action on Public Safety (CAPS) calls for a Peaceful Walk on Saturday 5th July 2009. The support has been tremendous, with broader ethnic communities joining.  Volunteers are needed to raise this awareness and we hope everyone will join us to show your concern.  Together we can network and create a better society for New Zealand.

Use your network to encourage your friends, family, your neighbourhood, relatives to participate in this most meaningful action.

A Quick Reminder for your Own Safety
-Stay alert whenever and wherever you are out in public areas to avoid falling into 'shock' mode.
-Reverse park; look around before entering your car.  Lock your doors immediately.
-Hold your keys and phone rather than putting them in your bag.  Your keys can be your first source of defence.
-Carry less cash and carry 1 or 2 cards in your pockets.
-If you are being attacked, use hard and brutal force to attack their weak spots (eyes, neck, crotch)
-Scream for help, blow the car horn, make as much noise as possible.
-Stay confident, do not be afraid to fight back.
