There have been accumulating criticism of this documentary that most will have found repugnant, which I suggest you take a read here:

Among the complaints, here is Peter Low's feedback.
"I have the feeling that this was done by people with an agenda behind the scene
It said criminals who go to prison will be trained to commit more crime. Lets ask why! This is a failure in the prison system and the prison CEO needs to answer this question, Why. Why is nobody responsible for this situation? I say if we do not want people to go prison then the law should tougher, so the potential criminal will not like to go to prison!
This documentary is telling the people to give them a chance and walk free in the public. First we have to think carefully how and what can be done. Sure everyone deserve a chance but do they really want a chance for themselves to commit more crime?
They say it's due to broken families, the criminals being victims themselves, due to drug abuse, alcohol and low income and etc. They haven't seen the real world- even lowest income countries in the 3rd world do not always have as high crime compared to NZ. Many very successful people in this society come from the worst backgrounds but commit no crime. I say is morals and respect is what is needed.
Yes this is a social problem and what are we going to do about it.
Lets ask ourselves what has been done for the drug issue, unemployment, basic moral education at home and in school, health problems, and poverty. I would like see if the politicians in government are able to reply.
Will we ask ourselves where is our future heading. Does the government have a solution? They told me they do not have a silver bullet, I say we do not need a silver bullet but a golden policy and good conduct. What they are saying is just an excuse and cheap talk.
Actually there is lot we can enjoy due to the resource we have in NZ and why we are holding back is most politicians are too scared of losing their vote for the future election and try to even keep everyone happy and their boss impressed rather than speaking out or doing something.
I remember Prime Minister John Key said during the election for his government will have transparency, accountability, and responsibility. I would like to see what has been done or plan to be done in the near future about the terrible crime problem.
Let speak out from your heart freely and not be hypocrites and say something against your own mind.
Thank you, Peter Low, AAG"

Next Tuesday's documentary: Real Crime: "The Worst Offenders: Can They Change?" @ 9:30pm TV ONE
"Child Sex Offenders. Their crimes are so abhorrent that most of us would prefer to lock the perpetrators out of sight, out of mind. But a groundbreaking programme at Christchurch's Rolleston prison is proving there is a better way..." This one we better be prepared for.
Thank you.
Kind regards
