Manukau Asian Forum chairman and Botany Community Board member Wayne Huang says: “This issue has been at the forefront of thinking for many community groups since the tragic incidents earlier this year.
“While some actions to increase awareness and better prepare citizens to look after their persons and property have taken place, the concerns remain.”
Politicians fronting this Thursday’s forum are Phil Goff (Labour), Simon Power (National), Dr Pita Sharples (Maori Party), Ron Mark MP (NZ First), Alan Johnson (Green Party) and David Garrett (ACT).
Mr Huang says a question and answer session will follow short addresses from politicians.
Also speaking at the meeting will be Manukau Mayor Len Brown, city council spokesman on community safety Dick Quax, councillor Michael Williams and Botany Community Board chairwoman Dyann Calverley.
The Manukau Asian Forum will be at Eastview Baptist Church, 559 Chapel Rd, from 6.45pm.
